Playground
The little girl I never was
And the little boy I couldn’t be
Sit on the swings in the playground
That’s been torn down
In the half-light of dusk
They conspire in winks and whispers
To tell stories of
Things that never happened
The little girl I never was
Wants to know how
To sing the songs she never learned
Because they were never written
The little boy I couldn’t be
Needs to be remembered
Before the night descends
And he fades away
The little girl I never was
And the little boy I couldn’t be
Promise each other to always
Sit on the swings in the playground
That’s been torn down
